Type: Full Time
International percussionist Rusty Eklund is currently auditioning dancers to co-develop a professional traveling group. This dancer sould be familiar with elements of Arabic, African, and Samba and willing to continue learning in each realm. Dancer will create all her own choreography based around doumbek, djembe, and samba rhythms. The core of the group will be two percussionists and a dancer and we will play with indigenous and local guest artists.

I have more than two decades of international travel experience in more than 25 countries. I play more than 20 drums and percussion implements at a professional level and have performed with grammy-winner Toumani Diabate, Jeli Lamine Soumano, and Nahawa Doumbia. I have years of studio and touring experience and have fronted three of my own groups.

Dancer must be willing to relocate and travel extensively, with plans for international travel. This group will perform in intimate venues and organize hookah parties throughout the midwest and south. We will also seek stage and street performances at festivals nationwide.

This is a serious, professional working group. If you have developed skills and are looking to full time with professional musicians at your disposal let's work together. A group contract will spell out responsibilities and earnings allocations. I have already established myself with workshops, performances, university lectures, weekly radio programming, and classes in the midwest. This will serve as a home port for the group in spring and summer. Fall and winter will focus on southern states.
