My friends call it "Barbapalooza". I call it a crazy-fun party. The party is on 08-09-08 (Saturday) to celebrate my birthday, which is August 8th (08-08-08).
Location: Nollen Plaza, downtown Des Moines
Time: 4:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. (events from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., followed by DJ & dancing until 10:00p.m.)
Other info: Family event...alcohol free...FUN for all!!
$$: FREE...I'm merely asking families, individuals and/or groups to bring 8 items of food to donate to the DMARC Food Bank and New Directions Women's & Children's Shelter
What else? Participants include Mikiel Williams (www.mikielwilliams.com), the Isisirettes drumline & dance team, and a DJ from Knight-Life Entertainment, the Iowa Energy Basketball organization, and Massage Heights. There will also be games, activities, hot dogs, sno kones, cotton candy, popcorn. Lots of fun and more in the works!!
I decided that every good party MUST have hula hoops, so I bought some regular ones for the kids, and then friend and I made some adult-sized hoops out of irrigation tubing. We laughed so hard at my failed attempts. Then we took them to my boyfriend's house...he and his son were all over it! They kept doing Bobby Flay-style throwdowns with the hoops...one-upping each other for almost two hours. It was hilarious.
Anyway, we had so much fun that I decided to see if there's a group in Des Moines who might be interested in joining us at the Barbapalooza party on 08-09-08 to show their stuff. So I searched the web and found you! It would be SO much fun to have you there. People would LOVE it, and it's for a good cause. As you can see above, the "event part" is from 4:00 to 6:00. The Isiserettes perform at 6:00, and then the DJ starts. If anyone from your group is interested in attending, it would be my honor to have REAL Hula Hoopers join in the fun. All for fun, and all for a good cause.
